The Drygal Family

Thank you for visiting Yorkies of Madeira Ranch and welcome to our site, let me start by introducing myself. My name is Dennis, along with my wife Connie, our daughter Savannah, and all of our Yorkie children own Yorkies Of Madeira Ranch here in Madeira Beach Florida. Years ago when we had a neighbor who owned a few Yorkies. Everyday our daughter Savannah would go over to our neighbors house and carry one Yorkie around for hours, it was amazing the bond these two developed and the things this breed would let our daughter do with him such as take him on stroller rides, run around together, and even fall asleep in her arms.

I could not believe what happen next… The little Yorkie would get out of our neighbors yard and run over to our house and scratch at the front door, looking for Savannah. After this happening about 4 or 5 times the neighbor finally said, “he obviously loves your daughter and if you and your daughter want him, you can have him.”, she also made us promise to love him forever and so we did. Now we had our first Yorkie in which our daughter renamed Cookie or “Tootie” as a nickname. Over the years I have seen Cookie grow up with our daughter and let me tell you their bond is stronger than ever.

One day I started thinking how happy Cookie made the family and thought to myself, “Why can’t I make a difference in someone else life as well.”, so I started researching and learned everything I could about this breed, their traits, and even their misconceptions. I knew one thing immediately, I did not want to be a “BACK YARD BREEDER”, the Yorkie is an amazing breed that loves attention and only wants to be loved. I firmly believe that with with puppies “in relation to temperament and love, you get what you give.” If the mother is loved and well taken care of, the puppies will be loving as well.

Our Yorkies are with us all the time, not left in a cage on top of one another only to run for a little while and be put back in the cage. This treatment really breaks my heart. Even before we go to sleep, they are with us in the bed for about an hour or two every night. When it is time to sleep they have their special area when they go with my wife Connie, and believe this or not each one gets what we call “The belly rub”, it is so funny but they love it. Diet is also important for our Yorkies, in my opinion it is one of the most important things you can do for this breed. We feed them high quality food which contains the right amount of protein and nutrients, this in turn helps their coat, teeth and bone structure to develop.

All of our Yorkies, except for Cookie, were picked by us and raised since they were all puppies and are all registered. We have APRI and AKC breeds including the AKC dual registered as APRI. I will never try to mislead anyone at any time, Tea Cup and Mini Yorkies do not exist. What happens is that Yorkies can be smaller, but the trait must come genetically from both the Mother and Father. If you have two smaller Yorkies that breed, chances are pretty good that their puppies will follow behind them in weight. You also have to be very cautious as far as getting a Yorkie that’s unusually small as they can have health issues, which can include Jaw issues, teeth problems, hip displacement and the head cap not closing completely. On the other side I have seen Yorkies that are as big as 12 to 13 pounds, and quite far from what the owner was expecting from a tea cup Yorkie. I can tell you confidently that our dogs range between 3 to 5.5 pounds which give a pretty good average of what they will be.
